As Global Volunteer Month comes to a close at Hasbro, we are excited to continue to recognize our dedicated employees who are making an impact in their communities through volunteerism all year long.
Each year, we recognize one outstanding employee volunteer for their extraordinary dedication to service with the Hasbro Hero Award. The Hasbro Hero is selected from our most dedicated volunteers around the world. Through employee nomination and selection, we honor one person who goes above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of others.
We are honored to announce this year’s Hasbro Hero: André Vonhof, a Business Intelligence Analyst based in Germany!
As a volunteer firefighter and paramedic, André has been making his community a safer place and inspiring the next generation for nearly 25 years. In addition to being on call to respond to emergencies, André leads fire safety workshops and demonstrations to show children how to respond in times of crisis. His work with children has inspired many of them to pursue firefighting later in life and André was there to train them when they started.
“One of the biggest rewards is when children look up to you. Seeing young firefighters that I trained while they were in school and now they have decided to be part of the firefighter family – those are unforgettable moments,” says André.
Last year, when Central Europe experienced devastating floods, hundreds lost their lives and thousands more lost their homes. André took time off work to serve as a first responder in Northern Germany, providing relief, support and hope to families who lost everything.
“My unit was sent to the flood disaster area in Northern Germany for a few days where people lost everything. It was so rewarding for us to see how thankful the people were for our help. I’d really like to thank Hasbro for giving me the chance to help these people get back to their normal lives.”
We are so grateful to André and his incredible commitment to making a difference. He truly embodies our purpose of making the world a better place for children, fans and families.
