Wizards of the Coast was named the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals’ 2019 Extra Life Partner of the Year. This award honors a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital partner who is raising significant funds through the Extra Life program.
For more than 8 years, Wizards has partnered with Extra Life, which unites thousands of gamers to play games and heal kids by fundraising for local Children's Miracle Network Hospitals across North America. Driven by passionate employees with a dedication to give back and supported by the Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons communities, the team raised more than $1.25 Million for local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in 2019.
Wizards has been a supporter of CMNH’s Extra Life for years, but the reimagined 2019 Extra Life campaign reached a new level. Streaming marathons of live game play, employees fundraised by allowing fan donations to decide elements of the game and auctioned off rare or limited-edition products. The 2019 campaign united fandoms of Magic: The Gathering and My Little Pony by launching limited edition collectible cards known as “Ponies: the Galloping”: three official Magic: The Gathering cards featuring four of the most beloved ponies.
The complex and exciting campaign also engaged the Dungeons & Dragons super team, kicking off the campaign with the Founders & Legends Day celebration.
