For the 8th year, Wizards of the Coast employees came together for an incredible cause: Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, as part of Extra Life.
Extra Life unites thousands of gamers to fundraise for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals across North America. Driven by passionate employees dedicated to giving back, and supported by the Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons gaming communities, the team raised over $1.6 Million for local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals this year.
Fans joined in on Twitch livestreams to watch several Magic: The Gathering livestream events such as Magic: The Gathering Arena stipulation drafts, a Q&A with Head Designer Mark Rosewater, mini Magic: The Gathering Arena Ironroot Chef, and more. Donations to Extra Life were also supported by purchasing Magic: The Gathering products like the Secret Lair: Extra Life card set, Magic: The Gathering Arena sleeves, eBay auctions, Extra Life apparel, and direct donations.
Dungeons & Dragons also launched several initiatives to benefit Extra Life this year, including donating all ticket sales from D&D Celebration, its major livestreamed event of the year. In addition, special apparel designed by Art Director Emi Tanji, auctions of editorial book galleys, partnerships with Humble Bundle, as well as several grassroots community initiatives through the year and of course generous fundraising from our player community, all helped raise $520k year to date. So far, 2020 has seen the highest amount ever raised by the D&D Extra Life team.
