Today, the Strong Museum announced that Jenga has been officially inducted into their National Toy Hall of Fame.
Leslie Scott, game designer and author, developed the original JENGA® Classic game from a wood block stacking game her family had created in Ghana in the 1970s. JENGA® was introduced in January 1983 at London Toy Fair, and then the famous Harrod's department store. JENGA® was launched in North America in 1986, and has since become an international game icon.
The National Toy Hall of Fame® at The Strong, established in 1998, recognizes toys that have inspired creative play and enjoyed popularity over a sustained period. Each year, the prestigious hall inducts new honorees and showcases both new and historic versions of classic toys beloved by generations.
